Beautiful things from the past await.

Late-Victorian Industrial Doors

$2400.00

These objects managed a delicate historical balancing act: providing physical containment and surveillance, wrapped in the dignified, carved architectural style of the late 1870s to 1890s.

Offered by Royal Dirt as a pair of two one-of-a-kind freestanding art pieces which can be simply altered to repatriate their use as functional doors.

130+ years ago industrial security was achieved through brute force - thick iron bars & sheet-metal armoring, yet builders couldn't resist adding a tiny touch of Victorian flair via the carved scallop at the top and decorative lower medallions.

The bars are iron. The doors are wood reinforced with original sheet-metal cladding and rivet work.

The medallions and bars are a dusty pink that surprisingly meshes well with any decor. The patina on the wood framing of the doors are stunning, revealing layers of muted blue, green, brown, and cream tones. Of note, these layers do not easily “flake off”.

Each stand at 70.5” tall, 19” wide, and 1.5” in depth.
